My Summer Lair Chapter #13: What Do You Like To Hum?
Ain’t nothing ho-hum about this chapter of My Summer Lair…
Confession: I’ve known Jerome Skeete since a fateful meeting in Grade 9 in Scarborough…we kinda do the math during this conversation; basically it’s been a decades long fun ride with much mirth and adventure. Jerome is fearless; he possess the type of bold, creative character NASA used to seek out when recruiting Apollo astronauts. I’ve had the immense pleasure of being in the front row with a giant #1 foam finger as his directorial career has developed. I’m excited to see where Hum—his latest work—takes him.
Confession: I met Philip Leung at a 2014 Predestination screening at the After Dark Film Fest. (Excellent sci-fi movie utterly surreal and strange, do check it out). An affable fellow with a hunger for better and much more…it’s infectious how he desires to improve his craft and tell better stronger stories.
Together these 2 talented gentlemen teamed up Voltron style to meld minds while co-directing and co-writing Hum: “the story of a young musician struggling to launch his career while taking care of his ailing grandfather. Our character is on the verge of a breakthrough – he’s about to be signed to a world-renowned label – but his grandfather who suffers from dementia keeps getting in the way of his creative process. Can he succeed as a musician while at the same time being the sole caregiver of his grandfather?”
Let’s find out…
