Girth Radio Presents…
Damn…the honesty of a junkie!
Tom Chaplin (Keane’s frontman) has returned (in more ways than one) with a solo album The Wave.
In a recent interview he confirms:
“I think of the album as the before, during and after,” he says thoughtfully. “That’s when I was faced with the choice of stopping or carrying on and losing everything — my marriage, family, my career — as well as facing up to the fact that I might die.
This powerful song slash affirmation concludes with the follow verse:
Hurting everyone I know
Bringing everybody down so low
Stuck along a road of sadness
With nowhere to go
Here’s hoping that the signs are real
And tomorrow with a spring in my heel
Somewhere on the road of sadness lies a better deal
Oh I know that my hardened heart is beating still
I drove it to the point of madness just to feel
Something real
Something real
Oh Snap: “Here’s hoping that the signs are real.”
Nobody doubts wonder…we all doubt signs. Even the ones we claim.
