My Summer Lair Chapter #24: What’s The Difference Between A Nerd And A Geek?
Or do these classic high school distinctions no longer apply as “comic book culture” seeps into the mainstream? Maybe there is no more us or them…maybe we’ve finally accept the appealing and inspiring message of Breakfast Club and we’re all just one gang now.
I met Andrew via Gavin Stephens an outstanding and benevolent stand up who sprinkles his jokes with much nerdy mirth. Gavin visited My Summer Lair this past September and enjoyed himself so much he invited me to his comic book celebration podcast Back Issue Bloodbath which he co-hosts with Andrew. I joined Gavin and Andrew for four dynamic episodes…including this episode on the outstanding comic book Fade Out.
Unbelievable how much fun that was. I hope they invite me back…I didn’t leave a mess. I think…depends on how you define “mess.”
And sure characters like Hannibal Lecter are monsters yet they can also offer excellent life advice like quid pro quo: so I’m happy to invite Andew to visit My Summer Lair.
Not only did I get to use the word zany but over the course of an hour we disccus and debate:
* Shipwreck the iconic G.I. Joe character
* Ed The Sock
* Project Burrito
* cynicism and online nerds
* comics like Black Widow, Daredevil, Lazarus plus many more!
* “Batman is the biggest bitch in comics” (his theory not mine!)
* Batman v Superman
* And so so much more…this one has it all true believers.
