I can only write about Amy Winehouse with a heavy heart. She had it…man she had it. It was all there in the music.
Alas it was not meant to be: on July 23rd 2011 Amy died of alcohol poisoning; leaving this life and becoming a celebrated member of the 27 Club.
Asif Kapaida’s forthcoming documentary about the life of Amy Winehouse Amy is currently mashing up the scene at the Cannes Film Festival.
Her father Mitch Winehouse criticized the doc for its “half-truths.”
My primary concern is Mark Ronson doesn’t seem to be in it. He’s not listed on imdb and none of the reviews mention him. I dunno how you could celebrate Amy’s life without talking to Mark.
Amy opens July 3rd in UK though no U.S. distributor has been confirmed. So annoying when quality docs make noise on the festival circuit then disappear. Hopefully this is not the case.
Oh…and here is the tragic trailer:
Sammy’s Status: So far…in (but really hoping Mark Ronson is the doc).
