My Summer Lair Chapter #75: Is This A Date?
I first meet Emily during the Blood in the Snow film festival as she was the line producer for the horror feature Blood Child. Super fun movie.
So it was easy to invite her back to My Summer Lair to discuss her latest work and of course X-Files. I’ve struggled with Season 11 and this modern reboot so it was refreshing to hear her perspective and some of the thoughts and feelings in her heart. (I recognized asking her could be dangerous…would she talk my ears off?! We eventually hafta talk about her work. Thankfully she was restrained. I’ve hung out with enough nerds to know some questions are landmines.)
Emily Schooley’s short film Life and the Art of Lying concludes with this coda:
“May I enjoy life and art
Be respected while I live
and be remembered with affection thereafter.”
It stood out and I asked her about it; what inspired that? Was it kinda sorta related to her? Her answer surprised me. It wasn’t what I expected. Which is what you should expect with Emily and her talents. Her IMDB is a broad range of credits and roles.
It’s no surprise she recently launched a Patreon account to give people the immense privilege to support her and her work.
To tackle all of Emily’s work and to bring a different perceptive to the queer themes in Life and the Art of Lying I’ve invited fellow Girth Radio Alissa Santiago to join the conversation. As you’ll hear Alissa hosts Sweat & Salt a show that dives into female entrepreneurship as well as lady things and lady parts.
So…without further ado here is the trailer for Life and the Art of Lying:
