The second Disney+ MCU TV show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier begins on March 19, 2020.
This looks much better and stronger than WandaVision which big-banged the Disney+ Marvel TV show Universe.
And it does prompt obvious questions.
Based on their dynamic comic book runs Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, Spider-Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange all earned stand alone movies.
Notable exceptions: Black Panther his runs while not long they’re populated with decent writing, same with Guardians of the Galaxy…who’re also on the line (their longest and first Volume 1 only hit 62 issues.).
Certainly Ant-Man. Why did Ant-Man get a stand-alone movie?! His comics never pull.
Relegating WandaVision to television makes sense: ain’t nobody gonna pay opening weekend money to see those dead-end characters. Cut up a $200 million movie into 9 Quibi chunks and dump it on a streamer makes so much sense. Same with Loki, Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
So why did Black Widow score a movie? Is it because of Scarlett SoBooty’s status? Shouldn’t Black Widow be a TV show: it’s also a dead end character. What’s her longest comic book run?
I mean it’s too late now: it’s all been set and I’m more curious than back-seat management. Certainly the upcoming MCU slate features Eternals and Shang-Chi 2 more dead-end characters. (I suppose you can also toss on Captain Marvel?)
