This week’s Pretty Lethal TV Recommendations show no Mercy. You don’t need to be a Daredevil to know you can trust #SetTheVCR.

Monday, March 23

Twisted Yoga (Anytime / Apple TV)

Twisted Yoga, a three-part series, follows a group of young yoga students from around the world drawn to the ancient practice in search of inner peace and purpose, only to fall under the influence of reclusive Romanian “guru” Gregorian Bivolaru, the spiritual leader of an international network of yoga studios specializing in tantric rituals. As they begin to fear they’ve joined a cult, they discover that Bivolaru, who often summoned select female students to his Paris apartment for private initiations, has a dark past. Bivolaru now faces charges in France, including human trafficking, kidnapping and rape – allegations he denies – as these women work with French authorities to convict him.

SAMMY SUGGESTION: MERCY (ANYTIME / PRIME VIDEO)

Set in the near future, a detective accused of murdering his wife has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to an advanced AI judge.
~~~
All we do lately is foolishly (and often ignorantly) judge AI. Well? It’s time for AI to judge…us. With our ugly track record I dunno that we can plead for…Mercy.
Tuesday, March 24
Sisu: Road to Revenge (Anytime / Netflix-US)
Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, ‘the man who refuses to die’ dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death.
~~
SAMMY SUGGESTION: DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN: SEASON 2 (ANYTIME / DISNEY+)
In Season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild.
~~~

Daredevil: Born Again sucked. First, there was no Daredevil. The first 2 episodes are a half-baked Suits spin-off. It’s subpar TV writing. It was and is subpar TV writing. So the prospect of a third season doesn’t fill me with joy. Let’s get through Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, see how much it sucks and go from there. This isn’t the man without fear, it’s the loser without a plot. I fully nominate Episode 6 of Daredevil: Born Again for one of the worst MCU TV episodes. And I’ve seen She-Hulk twerk. By Episode 7 it was a chore: like you need a Task Force to take down Swordsman?! Just inferior writing: the fatter Kingpin gets the more “evil” he gets?! “Hey Guys!” I went up 3 sizes in my suits…I’m back to Fisky Business. Utter Junk. So can Daredevil: Born Again overcome all of that? Here we go. Programming Note: A third season was confirmed in September 2025. For now, let’s just get through Season 2.

Major League Baseball Opening Day: Yankees vs Giants (8:05 p.m. / Netflix)

The official start of the 2026 MLB season happens Wednesday, March 25 when the New York Yankees visit the San Francisco Giants for a standalone Opening Night game at 8:05 p.m. This standalone game between two historic franchises will air on Netflix, marking the streaming service’s first regular-season big league game. (Netflix will also broadcast MLB’s Opening Night game for the 2027 and ‘28 seasons.) Thursday, March 26 marks the traditional Opening Day of the 2026 MLB season, featuring a full schedule of 14 games. The 2026 Major League Baseball season will be the 125th anniversary season of the modern era (dating back to 1903, though the AL/NL leagues existed since 1901).
~~

SAMMY SUGGESTION: JEFF ROSS: TAKE A BANANA FOR THE RIDE (ANYTIME / NETFLIX)

Making his Broadway debut, legendary comic Jeff Ross turns the spotlight on himself in a one-man show that is as heartfelt as it is hilarious.
~~~
Is Jeff Ross gonna roast himself? This sounds like Mike Birbiglia Netflix special. Jeff Ross’ Broadway debut is a comedic monologue about family, death and loss, pets, illness, growing older, the importance of community, the healing power of laughter and how adversity can make you stronger. That all sounds very Jeff Ross. I’m in!
Thursday, March 26
Homicide: New York: Season 2 (Anytime / Netflix)
A True Crime docuseries that illuminates some of the most notorious crimes from the city that never sleeps. Here, an elite team of NYPD detectives relive the homicide investigations that defined their careers. These are their stories.
~~
SAMMY SUGGESTION: PRETTY LETHAL (ANYTIME / PRIME VIDEO)
An action-packed thriller where five ballerinas, on their way to a prestigious dance competition, are barely on speaking terms when their bus breaks down in a remote forest.With no other options, they reluctantly seek shelter at an unsettling roadside inn run by Devora Kasimer (Uma Thurman), a reclusive former ballet prodigy. From the moment they arrive, something feels wrong—and their worst instincts prove right. As the situation turns deadly, the fractured team must set aside rivalries and weaponize years of brutal training, turning grace, discipline, and even pointe shoes into tools for survival.
~~~

What is up with this janky “Ballerina Overdrive” genre? Jennifer Lawrence in Red Sparrow, Ana de Armas in John Wick/Ballerina, even Abigail and now this latest offering. This whole she’s not cute…she’s deadly premise is deeply corny. Boy action heroes are cool combat vets struggling with PTSD. That is way better and more en pointe than this genre. Let’s see if Pretty Lethal can Pirouette and offer something fresh in this clunky genre closer to a Lethal Weapon.

Friday, March 27

For All Mankind: Season 5 (Anytime / Apple TV)

Season five of For All Mankind picks up in the 2010s, years since the Goldilocks asteroid heist. Happy Valley has grown into a thriving colony with thousands of residents and a base for new missions that will take us even further into the solar system. But with the nations of Earth now demanding law and order on the Red Planet, friction continues to build between the people who live on Mars and their former home.
~~

SAMMY SUGGESTION: MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE (ANYTIME / HULU & DISNEY+ CANADA)

Two friends navigate the dangerous world of organized crime, testing their loyalty and survival skills as they get deeper into the criminal underworld.
~~~
Wedding Crashers Vince Vaughn is back, I think. Hard to tell from the trailer. Wedding Crashers Vince Vaughn was back in Bad Monkey on Apple, highly recommended. So…is Wedding Crashers Vince Vaughn is back? Let’s find out together…along with Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice.
The New Adventures of Batman: The Complete Series (Anytime / Tubi-US)
Saturday Morning Cartoons: The New Adventures of Batman is an animated series from Filmation that aired on CBS from February 12, 1967 to May 28, 1970. Featuring Batman (Adam West), Robin (Burt Ward) and Batgirl. The Dynamic Duo fight crime in Gotham City, encountering the classic Batman rogues gallery as well as some original villains. Complicating matters is Bat-Mite, a well-meaning imp from another dimension called Ergo, who considers himself Batman’s biggest fan. As a result, he wears a variant of Batman’s costume and attempts to help him, only to often create more problems.
~~
SAMMY SUGGESTION: FOR THE LOVE OF MOVIES (8:00 P.M. / TVO)
For nearly 40 years, TVO’s Saturday Night at the Movies, hosted by the beloved Elwy Yost, invited viewers into the magical world of cinema – from the silent era and Hollywood’s golden age to today’s brightest stars. This new series delves into the TVO archives to reveal often never-before-seen interviews with cinematic legends and visionaries. The first episode centers around Canadian comedy, featuring archival footage from icons like John Candy, Martin Short, Mike Myers and Catherine O’Hara.
~~~

“For the Love of Movies revisits TVO’s rich film heritage by showcasing candid conversations with some of the most influential figures in film. Viewers will discover interviews and rare behind-the-scenes moments that capture the magic of Canadian film history. Narrated by accomplished Canadian comedian and actress, Aurora Browne, the docuseries will include five episodes.” I highlight the first episode especially: Canadians Are Funny, Eh?: “Featuring Canadian comedy icons like John Candy, Martin Short, Mike Myers, and Catherine O’Hara, revealing the origins of SCTV from the legends who built it and reflecting on what makes Canadians so hilarious.” That’s the pitch…and it is a good pitch. Here’s some of the Mike Myers footage they’re talking about.

White With Fear (Anytime / PBS.Org)

Told by operatives in the rooms where it happened, White With Fear is a deep dive into the decades-long quest by some of America’s conservative political machine to amass power by exploiting racial fault lines and stoking narratives of White victimization. This premiered on March 24 at 10 p.m. on PBS but can now be viewed on PBS.org and the PBS app. However it is on PBS so check your local listings; it may still be broadcast. (White victimization as a political strategy is fascinating. Even if you accept the fear; why would you willingly give politicians representative power? Hell, no.)

~~

SAMMY SUGGESTION: IS THIS THING ON? (ANYTIME / HULU & DISNEY+ CANADA)

As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family—forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.
~~~
Comedy Is Tragedy Plus Time, right? Mining clumsy humor from his failing marriage, this Will Arnett movie is supposed to be a “mature portrait” of middle age life and all of its unique American Hustle challenges. How did the characters evolve from Limitless possibilities to Failure to Launch. Yeah, it all sucks and comes off rather silly, like a senior citizen with a Hangover. Skip the pedestrian middle age life moments. It is Bradley Cooper’s subpar attempt to make a Woody Allen A Star is Born movie. And he’s not good at it…not even close. Mainly because…he’s simply not Woody Allen. (There’s no Silver Linings Playbook, here. To be blunt…Woody is just better than Bradley. It’s still early for Bradley Cooper as a director but so far, he’s not on The A-Team. Chris Rock showed way more Woody Allen potential with Top Five.) Fast forward through anything that isn’t set in a comedy club. The comedy club scenes are compelling…and shot well. Otherwise the honest answer to Is This Thing On? is mostly, eh…nope.
