A friend of mine…she likes to sing in the car picked me up one day to get some tea. She had Basia Bulat’s fantastic Oh, My Darling totally cranked. Wow, who is this? She wasn’t sure how to pronounce her name but she passed her on to me, along…generously with the cd we were listening too. Tea and tunes does it for me every single time.
Since then we’ve seen Basia Bulat live (she did not disappoint!) and I’ve continued with her (the singer and my friend; they’re both lovely). Basia followed Oh, My Darling with Heart of My Own and her biggest release yet in 2013 she dropped Tall Tall Shadow. And now: we get new music from her in 2016! Ah-maz-ing!

Sia is back…with the infectious confidence and strut of a bold lion. 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear is her best work yet; early indications This Is Acting her 2016 album extends her winning streak.

Did you see Saul Williams when he opened for k-os on November 20, 2015?

I can’t articulate what it is about bands from California they have this Sun-soaked sound that makes my east coast living heart happy.
It’s easy to name bands from California, just as easy it is to name bands from New York City. Still add Babe Parade to your Cali list with this deft entry:

A subtle soft warm wooing with contagious repetition…shame this is out now and not during the Summer!

Yes! The sparse hypnotic production means you can focus on the words; often with rap the beat is the distracting and seductive belly dancer capturing your entire attention. Which is cool since Pusha T has some relevant things to share:
“The three leading killers of you niggas
Is the shit that’s most appealing to you niggas”
