How much credit should we give Netflix or rather their machine learning algorithm?
The widely anticipated Stranger Things 3 trailer dropped on March 20 which instantly opens with Mötley Crüe’s Home Sweet Home.
And then their Crüe biopic The Dirt followed on March 22. Boom!
A meta commercial within a trailer or just a coincidence?
The result: “Motley Crue’s “The Dirt” Soundtrack Earns #1 On US iTunes Sales Chart”
Netflix probably had the Mötley Crüe music rights cleared since they hadda clear the rights for The Dirt: so may as well double dip for Stranger Things knowing EVERYBODY would watch the Stranger Things trailer.
I point this out because many people have been overlooking how Netflix is operating.
It’s pretty impressive: HBO is in big trouble.
Netflix is still considered to be a “new HBO” but that’s not correct. This is a different sport: like when Michael Jordan retired from The Bulls to play baseball. 45 is not 23.
