359 | Chloe Van Landschoot (From: Season 4 & Son of Sara)

Posted on April 14, 2026August 5, 2026 By Sammy Younan No Comments on 359 | Chloe Van Landschoot (From: Season 4 & Son of Sara)

My Summer Lair Chapter #359: How Do You Express Dread When You’re Pregnant With That Emotion?

For this My Summer Lair episode we walk with actor Chloe Van Landschoot down two very different roads into modern horror: one road leads to a town nobody can’t escape From and one road is a pregnancy where something is wrong…very, very wrong.

Howdy, Sammy Younan

On MGM+ From has just wrapped Season 4 and the finale that didn’t pull any punches with all the grim gut punches. When I talked to Chloe it was less than a week after that wild Season 4 finale.

The body count increased, the rules got stranger, and the damn town continues to do what it does best: take people who are just trying to survive—barely holding it together and slowly reshape who they are. Even your identities in that nightmarish town are not safe.

On From, Chloe plays Kristi Miller, a steady presence in all that endless chaos—the medic in a town where stability is a luxury.

Earlier this year, I talked to Corteon Moore who plays Ellis Stevens on From. And he said something that stuck with me: he doesn’t view From as horror because he doesn’t often engage with the town. Huh. I find Kristi is similar, she’s shielded from the town: she doesn’t get visions. As the town medic; she’s often navigating the consequences of the town rather than unravelling the town’s mythology.

Across four seasons she’s been calm…but in that last episode the town finally reached out and got to her. So what does that slow accumulation of pressure do to a person? How does that cumulative trauma show up in her Kristi performance?

I said to Chloe  next season’s the last one, so we’re gonna see how this resolves. She smiled at me and said “Yeah: you and me both.”

Also not resolved? Son of Sara—a very different kind of horror story. This isn’t horror built around jump scares or hockey mask wearing slashers.

It’s the slow creepy realization that something feels fundamentally wrong.

Chloe plays Sara, a pregnant woman who has accepted an invitation to dinner that spirals into a bloody, demented nightmare. Turns out Sara is not good at interpreting all the Omens…

Chloe has an actual nursing background, she was a practising nurse so she can confirm that being pregnant is scary because so much can go wrong. But that tension smoothly feeds into the movie’s horror…a slow-burn psychological dread that builds through restraint, tension, and tiny emotional choices rather than classic horror spectacle.

The writer and director of Son of Sara is Houston Bone. Reflecting on the movie Chloe reveals she finds it funny, really good camp. The opposite of From where nothing is funny.

So yeah for Son of Sara Chloe deploys a different creative lens balancing performance with subtle intimate horror that doesn’t always loudly announce itself, but lingers long after the end credits have concluded.

Chloe and I unpack calm versus collapse, the ignored warning signs of health and…Son of Sara was originally called Volume 1. Can we expect a Volume 2?

Son of Sara will host some special #PantsWorthy theatrical screenings with Q & As across Canada during July, 2026. After that it’ll be issued on Digital and Video-on-Demand (VOD). Which is the movie version of spawning a baby…
