The premise of Latched a horror short playing at TIFF 2017:
“A choreographer pursues creative inspiration at a cottage retreat while attempting to wean her demanding toddler — and unknowingly awakens a vile fairy corpse in the process. When she discovers the creature’s terrifying intentions, she will have to put her creativity to good use to lure the repugnant beast.” Oh Boy…
You have to hear this movie too: the score is impressive for a short…that’s because the boys hired composer Vivien Villani. That inspired attention to detail is compelling directors Justin Harding and Rob Brunner to make quality products as they step out of the world of reality tv into filmmaking. They’re aiming for something special and you can hear the passion in their voices. And they’re not doing it alone.
Latched stars Justin’s real life wife and child: Alana Elmer and Bowen Harding (Bowen at only 14 months knocks it out of the park!!). Justin and Rob have formed a gang…The Bokeh Collective to take on the world. So smart…filmmaking remains a collaborative creative process and the more allies you have the better odds you’ll succeed.
It’s a pleasure to talk to hustlers. I mean they bought their own movie making equipment! I’ll trust anybody who invests in gear. These guys clearly have a mission and want to fulfill their destiny. Yes. Coming from experiences and working on shows like The The Amazing Race they no doubt understand the stakes but also thrive under the pressure. It’s not easy to succeed but it is necessary. I can’t wait to see what they do they next.
