My Summer Lair Chapter #32: How Does A White Guy From Just Outside Windsor, ONT And A Stand Up Comedian From Brampton End Up Telling The Story of Hip Hop’s Origins?
Sadly I missed Hip Hop Evolution’s Hot Docs screenings back in April. Thankfully it premieres exclusively on HBO Canada on Sunday September 4 at 9pm.
And if you read the credits…you’ll recognize Brampton comedian Russell Peters as an executive producer and the director My Summer Lair guest Darby Wheeler the infectiously passionate white guy from just outside Windsor, ONT as your hip hop storytellers. How did this happen?
Once my interview with Darby was confirmed as a promotional tweet I half-joked: Tonight over drinks I’ll discuss old school hip hop with @hiphopevolution’s director @iamdarby. Basically a regular Friday night @GirthRadio. Which is totally true!
What a freshtastic treat to sit down with somebody who is just as passionate but also hung out with DJ Kool Herc; chilled with Run D.M.C, engaged Ice-T, conversed with Melle Mel and loafed with LL Cool J. Ah-mazing.
The doc-u-series is special and not to be missed: Get Down On It!
