For the record while Nickelback and Bieber Fever are Canadian exports, it was Americans who made them big. Just saying we all played a part in that sad tale. And yet there’s so much good music coming out of Canada. I’ll be in the US Grandpa Simpson rambling about some band that’s HUGE in Canada and earn blank looks. Who or what are you talking about? So that’s the purpose behind this CanCon Column every Tuesday at 9am…to provide illumination of Canadian music: retro, past and present/future. Any suggestions email or use comments below.

Let It Die
Music is sacred especially in its ability to clearly communicate soul feelings. People say I’m hungry nobody says I’m lonely. People say I’m tired nobody says I wish I knew how to love better.
Let It Die came out at a particular time in my life and in a friend’s life and it instantly became this vocabulary, this sonic way we would accurately share emotions. I know…sounds cheezy right? Until it happens to you, until you have an album experience that baptizes your life and your heart into this new realm of expression it sounds cheezy.
So I won’t go on…I just want it on the record because I know it does happen. And look all you need to know is this is a damn good album from a damn good Artist. Get it. And if you end up being cheezy? Embrace it…with every fiber of your being.
Sounds Like:
Sade and some Nina Simone.
Fun Fact:
Nelly Furtado was enjoying the Feist album so much while driving she hit a car…she writes in her online journal:
“Oh!!! Did I mention Feist?…I love that album.,.I loved it so much a couple of months ago that i actually accidentally rear-ended an empty parked car in a parking lot…listening to Feist’s beautiful voice..I should not be telling you this…So do not listen to Feist while driving, or do it at a low volume, anyway..Do not worry..no one was hurt, and I did not run away..I waited in the cold for the owner…yep it’s true..haha!!!”
Funky Cool Lyric:
“You treat me like a vision in the night/Someone there to stand behind you/When your world ain’t working right/I ain’t no vision, I’m the girl/who loves you inside and out
Backwards and forwards with my heart hanging out/I love no other way…”
(Damn! That’s a mixtape special huh?)
