Oh be still my 80s loving heart. You hear that delightful synth?! That voice radiating pop’s best hopes. What a fun upbeat tune.

I nearly burst into tears when I pushed play on this video…New Order are back! Oh how this band has been missed. While I enjoy Depeche Mode my 80s synth heart beats for New Order. I carved our names into a tree, giant heart…big arrow…the whole deal.

Here instantly captured my attention with the clever Portishead Glory Box sample. It took a couple of listens to actual move past the sample to “hear” what Alessia Cara was saying. She riffs like Def Poetry Jam in structure and style. I don’t understand how the machine…the system works?
How does a girl go from Brampton, Ontario to performing on BBC Radio 1?

Like most people Kanye West’s Touch The Sky introduced me to Lupe Fiasco. His debut album came with Kick, Push a smooth rap song about skateboarders. Alright Lupe you have my attention; once he had that I was rewarded with The Cool. An outstanding rap album: complex, dark and soaked in creativity.

Amy Winehouse’s passing left soul music all that much poorer. Beyond frustrating when the good ones go too soon.
As such I’m happy Artists like Andra Day are helping to fill that vacuum. Classic song…soulful, destined to adopted as an empowering anthem: its fate is sealed. Before it gets burdened with the emotional baggage of a sloppy cause it’s still pristine and ready for enjoyment.

Duran Duran are undergoing a subtle and strong reassurance. Their 2011 album All You Need Is Now is strong and courageous in the sonic risks the band took…Paper Gods (the single) continues building on that risk.
It’s like…the band is hungry. Hunger is infectious.

This Sunkissed ditty is a Summer Jam! Reminds me of Summertime the divine celebration of youth and Sunshine as penned by the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

I dunno why or what prompted a return…just went back to this track, it’s from 2013. In talking with some hip hop heads I was startled to discover they’d never heard of this track or Logic. Mainstream radio is dominated by the usual suspects Kanye, Jay, Em etc. there’s a lot that flies under the radar.
