My Summer Lair Chapter #64: Most People Have Plans To Survive A Zombie Apocalypse But Could You Survive A Vampire Apocalypse?

There’s been a herd mentality (yup) when it comes to zombies so Red Spring is an outstanding opportunity to plug into a post-apocalyptic world dominated by vampires:
“The world has been ravaged by vampires. A group of survivors band together to search for loved ones who may be alive, dead or something in between, eventually taking shelter in what may be the only safe hideout left to them. But well defended hideouts have a way of becoming prisons. And prisons aren’t the safest place to be when your friends can turn on you at any time.”

This movie premiered at Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival on Thursday November 23, 2017 at 9pm. Then made the festival and comic con rounds.

One of Red Spring‘s fascinating elements is…it’s set in Toronto. Like Toronto is playing Toronto. They talk about towns outside Toronto. Toronto has rarely gotten mashed by a movie (ever?!) and I brought this point up with producer Tonya Dodds and writer/director/actor Jeff Sinasac. Toronto has hardly ever gotten mashed so when you see it getting mashed her you get the sense things are really bad; this is a grim world.

Oh and as you’ll hear in my interview this is part 1 of a proposed trilogy. Off-air I asked Jeff and Tonya if I could die in Red Spring 2…you know get killed by a vampire? How much fun would that be? They agreed! As such please go forth and support this movie so they can make the second one and I can get slayed. Blood everywhere.
