2017 was a good year over at Girth Radio. We continued to bring in guests that got our hosts excited to be there. We gave them a drink or two to get their secrets out and recorded for your listening pleasure and we laughed, high fived and from time to time bro hugged it out….
I finally finished the X-Files…last year.
Back in the show’s original run (which wrapped in 2002 a delightfully stone age era with dial up internet, black and white Game Boys) I left when the show moved to LA aka Season 6. In 2014 my restless heart desired to finish the series…watch all 202 episodes and the 2 movies. What a marvelous and flawed run.

This is the Biggest Day at CMW!! So much amazing is happening; as it’s 2017 if you can use a home cloning kit to make party-duplicates of yourself, I strong advise it. Even at Girth Radio we’re hosting 2 bands. Visit Pacific Junction Hotel bar (234 King St E) and bring your single friends!
At 6pm Sean Sirianni takes over In Session… and hosts Cat Clyde for an acoustic performance and interview.
At 7pm I’m hanging out with Hillsburn for an acoustic performance and interview.
After my work is done I’m gonna check out what the Bucks-Raptors score is at (Game 3 starts at 8pm!) then I’m off to see what the evening has for me and my posse.

Oh man…you hafta, you must, you really should see The Balconies live. If I had their dense sonic energy oh the things I could accomplish. Good Gravy! Also on tonight’s CMW 2017 bill is Ivory Hours: yo a fantastic double bill. If that’s not your cup of tea there is also Look Vibrant. CMW is always about choices.

It is difficult to convey the profound impact James Baldwin has on other writers…and on the discussions and debates we continue to have about race and racism. He died in 1987; yet we’re still grappling with the complex issues he so eloquently expressed in writing and speaking.
I come from comic books; from sci-fi and all too often encounter nerd-centric click-bait posts on diversity. Not only have we grown comfortable championing facile notions of diversity often to the cheers/likes/retweets of our passionate echo chamber (Yes Men for true) we lazily challenge the numbers not the issues.
