First I’m an an NBA dude not an NFL dude. So the best way to rectify that is to read.
Jeff Benedict’s book on The Patriots is superb.
I appreciate his primary focus on football; he doesn’t dwell on TMZ-gossip. It’s a fantastic business breakdown on success: the actual financial cost as much as the emotional cost(s).
It’s surreal how many of New England’s decisions that fashioned their dynasty mirrors what the Chicago Bulls with Jordan did. This is a template:
Hiring the correct unorthodox coaches; trading popular players, a bold vision from ownership etc. All of that in the service of winning.
Winning matters.
Dynasties matter.
Dynasties are so inspiring and so vital. Beyond sports as fans we want sustained greatness from filmmakers and bands and writers. Always!
You can do this once…win once it’s fun. Winning is a habit just as much as losing. Win as often and as much as you can.
But win often…consistently…dominantly and the make up of your city is transformed.
Success is an Elixir.
Dynasties transform communities and renovate cities.
Winning covers a multitude of sins. So good.
Dominance is delicious: I relished the ’90s Bulls dynasty: success is denying others glory.
Thing is: dominance is great: it forces everyone else to get better; to battle harder. So I’m grateful for all that New England did to make the NFL better. Elevate.
