If the NBA was gym class…would you draft Dirk Nowitzki? I dunno…I struggle with Nowitzki. He’s got an amazing shot, for true (hence the name of his doc Der perfekte Wurf). But that fire…that fiery assassin desire to utterly destroy you that Jordan, Kobe et al. exhibit doesn’t seem to be present with Nowitzki.
He does have a ring. So there’s that. But then I can’t recall a Nike or Gatorade commercial with him. Least Tim Duncan did some witty Foot Locker work. See back and forth…the uneven logic of determining Nowitzki’s worth and putting his NBA contributions in context. Doesn’t help the Mavs were awful for a long time; Cuban’s done a lot for the franchise I just don’t know if it’s enough.
